2026 Olympic hopefuls compete in US moguls freestyle championships at Palisades Tahoe
ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU SO MUCH. APPRECIATE THAT. WELL, THE SNOW SURVEY ISN鈥橳 THE ONLY THING GOING ON IN THE SIERRA TODAY. MANY OLYMPIC HOPEFULS ARE THERE COMPETING IN THE U.S. MOGULS FREESTYLE CHAMPIONSHIPS. DEIRDRE FITZPATRICK LIVE IN PALISADES TAHOE, WHICH IS HOSTING THIS BIG EVENT. HEY, FITZ. GOOD MORNING. HEY. GOOD MORNING. AND MOTHER NATURE IS THE ONE PUTTING ON THE SHOW BECAUSE I WAS UP HERE ON TUESDAY WHEN THE ATHLETES WERE DOING SOME TRAINING RUNS AND THEY WERE SKIING IN, LIKE, SHORT SLEEVES AND SHORTS, SOME OF THEM. AND NOW, LIKE WINTER IS BACK. BUT FOR A LOT OF THESE ATHLETES, THERE鈥橲 NO PLACE LIKE HOME FOR A COMPETITION LIKE THIS, ESPECIALLY IF THEY DO HAVE OLYMPIC DREAMS. WE鈥橵E GOT ABOUT 150 ATHLETES WHO ARE IN TOWN NOW FOR THE FREESTYLE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS HERE AT PALISADES. THESE ARE THE MOGUL CHAMPIONSHIPS. A LOT OF THESE SKIERS GREW UP IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, AND THEY ACTUALLY LEARNED TO SKI HERE AT PALISADES TAHOE. NOW, THEY TRAVELED THE WORLD COMPETING FOR THE U.S. SKI TEAM. THEY SAY THAT GETTING TO COMPETE ON A HOME MOUNTAIN DEFINITELY GIVES THEM AN EDGE. PLUS, YOU HAVE THE ADDED BENEFIT THAT YOU GET TO SEE A LOT OF YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY AT THE COMPETITION. WE SPEND HUNDREDS OF DAYS AND HOURS ON THIS EXACT COURSE, AND I THINK IT SHOULD BE VERY FUN. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY BUILT A VERY HIGH LEVEL COURSE. IT鈥橲 LIKE SUCH A FUN EVENT THAT LIKE VIBES ARE HIGH. PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE IS JUST HERE TO HAVE FUN. AND YEAH, PUT DOWN THEIR BEST SKIING. IT鈥橲 SO MUCH FUN. I LOVE BEING OUT HERE, ESPECIALLY BEING HERE AT HOME IN FRONT OF THE HOME CROWD. I鈥橫 GONNA HAVE A LOT OF FRIENDS AND FAMILY HERE THIS WEEKEND, WHICH WILL BE SUPER FUN. SO HOPING TO SKI WELL, BUT EITHER WAY, IT鈥橪L BE A FUN WEEKEND. SO THE WOMEN WENT THROUGH THEIR QUALIFIERS YESTERDAY. THE GUYS GO THROUGH THE FIRST ROUND OF QUALIFIERS STARTING AT 1105 THIS MORNING. THE FINALS FOR THE MEN AND WOMEN WILL TAKE PLACE TOMORROW. AND THEN WE鈥橵E GOT DUAL MOGULS COMING UP ON SUNDAY. WE HAVE A HUGE MORNING PLAN FOR YOU ON ALL OF OUR MORNING SHOWS UNTIL 10:00, INCLUDING THE HOURS OVER ON MY58. 2026 Olympic hopefuls compete in US moguls freestyle championships at Palisades Tahoe
Olympic hopefuls are at Palisades Tahoe on Friday, competing in the U.S. moguls freestyle championships. The event is taking place on Red Dog Face at the ski resort. About 150 athletes are participating. The women went through their qualifiers on Thursday. Qualifiers for men begin around 11 a.m. Friday.Finals for the men and women will take place Saturday, and dual moguls take place Sunday.

Olympic hopefuls were at Palisades Tahoe on Friday, competing in the U.S. moguls freestyle championships.

The event is taking place on Red Dog Face at the ski resort. About 150 athletes hoping to qualify for the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics participated.

The women went through their qualifiers on Thursday. Qualifiers for men began around 11 a.m. Friday. Finals for the men and women will take place Saturday, and dual moguls will take place Sunday.
