THE EXPANSION PART OF THE GO WIDE 65 CAMPAIGN, WHICH WILL ADD LANES TO THIS HIGHWAY FROM HUNTSVILLE TO MOBILE. EIGHT BRIDGES WILL ALSO BE REPLACED DURING THE PROJECT. THOSE BRIDGES, WIDER THAN THE CURRENT ONES TO DECREASE CONGESTION AND IMPROVE THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. THERE ARE THREE PHASES TO THE PROJECT, WHICH WILL ALL RUN CONCURRENTLY AT SOME POINT. DRIVERS CAN EXPECT DELAYS, BUT LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR WILL AINSWORTH SAYS THE BENEFITS OUTWEIGH THE COST. 8 MILLION TOURISTS GO TO THE COAST EVERY YEAR. IT鈥橲 OUR MAIN THOROUGHFARE FOR JUST, YOU KNOW, INDUSTRY, RIGHT? TRUCKS GOING UP AND DOWN, PEOPLE TRAVELING. I THINK IT鈥橲 JUST GOING TO BE SO IMPORTANT FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, BUT ALSO JUST FOR, YOU KNOW, IT SHOULDN鈥橳 TAKE FROM NORTH ALABAMA. IT SHOULDN鈥橳 TAKE TEN HOURS TO GET TO THE BEACH. IT SHOULD TAKE FIVE EXTENSIVE ENGINEERING WORK AND SPECIAL MATERIALS WILL BE NEEDED, ESPECIALLY FOR BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION. THE PROJECT COULD TAKE UP TO A DECADE TO COMPLETE I
