'Those children need everything': Fashion show supports abuse victims while supporting fine arts
The Poze Bazaar Foundation is holding a fashion show with plans to donate proceeds to Prescott House.
Prescott House is a child advocacy non-profit that supports children who are victims of or witnesses to sexual abuse.
Prescott House provides free counseling, assists with forensic testing and offers assistance to the families of children who are abused.
"Those children need everything, every resource that they can to work through their trauma and to hopefully get to the place of success and healing," said Tree Davidson, the Development Manager for Prescott House.
The nonprofit has a need for a new counselor as there is a waitlist.
A part-time counselor would help Prescott House clear its waitlist until it could hire a full-time counselor.
Poze Bazaar is stepping in to help meet this need and provide additional resources for those children.
This touches on the foundation's theme of creativity and mental health awareness this year.
鈥淲hen it comes to the creativity part, you know, a lot of children like myself, I wasn't able to verbalize, but I did draw. I did dance it out. I found, I found freedom and healing through the arts. And I just want to, you know, I want us, with Poze Bazaar Foundation to be able to, provide those opportunities," said La'Vinnia Holliday, the Founder of The Poze Bazaar Foundation.
This cause is personal to Holliday.
"I am a survivor of child abuse, sexual abuse. So, I have a, I feel I have a sense of responsibility towards Prescott house. They helped people that I that I'm close with, and just to be able to hear about how they've helped other people, I've felt like I have a purpose to be able to help Prescott House continue their mission," said Holliday.
