Festival of Tulips reaching peak bloom in Montevallo
The 9th Annual Festival of Tulips is taking place at the American Village in Montevallo, offering visitors a chance to pick flowers and enjoy various activities.
The festival, which has grown from 70,000 to 120,000 tulips, aims to attract visitors during a typically slow period.
"Our turnout this year has been spectacular," said Melanie Poole, the communications officer with American Village. "People really respond to this event. They stalk us on social media. They're looking for that post that says, now open. And now after we've opened, they're looking for that post that says we're at peak bloom. So we're going to get there this weekend and through the beginning of next week."
