Alabama state offices close for Jefferson Davis' birthday
THAT CLEANUP? ABSOLUTELY NOT. WE鈥橵E GOT A HAZY SUNRISE ON YOUR SUNDAY MORNING WITH THE WILDFIRE SMOKE STILL PREVALENT. YOU CAN SEE HOW THE SUN APPEARS AT ITS GLOWING OVER TALLADEGA OVER THE COOSA RIVER AS WELL. WAKING UP IN GADSDEN PRETTY COMFORTABLE THIS MORNING. DOWN TO 56. IN GADSDEN, WE鈥橰E IN THE LOW 60S HERE IN BIRMINGHAM, BUT THAT KIND OF BLURRED LOOK TO THE SKY IS NOT GOING TO GO AWAY. GOOD NEWS IS WE鈥橰E NOT SEEING ANY AIR QUALITY ALERTS. IT鈥橲 JUST NOT THAT PRONOUNCED DOWN HERE. BUT TROUBLE SPOTS ARE DEFINITELY FURTHER NORTH, THOUGH. THIS IS SPANNING ACROSS A LARGE CHUNK OF THE COUNTRY UP NEAR THE DAKOTAS AND MINNEAPOLIS. THERE IN THAT HAZARDOUS RANGE WHERE SOME OF THEM ARE BEING TOLD TO STAY INSIDE. AND SO, OF COURSE, THOSE ARE THOSE AREAS ARE CLOSER TO THE WILDFIRES IN CANADA, BUT WE鈥橰E STILL SEEING AN IMPACT HERE. AND THIS SMOKE IS TRAVELING AS FAR SOUTH AS THE GULF COAST. AND IT WILL CONTINUE TO SEEP SOUTH TODAY. YOU CAN SEE HOW THICK IT IS EVEN ACROSS SOME OF OUR AREA, NORTH ALABAMA, THE TENNESSEE VALLEY, IT鈥橲 GOING TO BE MOST DENSE UP THERE. BUT AGAIN, AS FAR SOUTH AS THE GULF COAST, YOU鈥橰E GOING TO NOTICE THAT IT JUST LOOKS HAZY TODAY. NOT A LOT OF BLUE SKY, JUST LIKE YESTERDAY. SOME OF THE RIDGE TOPS UP IN NORTH ALABAMA. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO SMELL IT, BUT GOOD NEWS IS, EVEN IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO POLLUTANTS IN THE AIR, YOU REALLY DON鈥橳 HAVE ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. ON FIRST WARNING FUTURE TRACK, YOU SEE A MIX OF CLOUDS AND HAZE AS WE HEAD INTO THIS AFTERNOON. FEW SPOTTY SHOWERS PICKING UP, BUT I THINK MOST LOCATIONS WILL BE DRY. UPPER 70S AROUND LUNCHTIME INTO 1:00 AND THEN HIGHS TODAY REACH THE LOW 80S, EVEN SOME MID 80S IN WEST ALABAMA BETWEEN TUSCALOOSA AND FAYETTE. AGAIN, A SPOTTY SHOWER POSSIBLE, BUT MOST LOCATIONS WILL REMAIN DRY EVEN THROUGH THIS EVENING, WITH MOST OF THE RAIN OFF TO THE NORTH, IT鈥橲 STILL PRETTY COMFORTABLE. THE HUMIDITY ISN鈥橳 ALL THAT HIGH, BUT AS WE HEAD INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK, OUR FLOW PATTERN WILL STILL STEER A LOT OF GULF MOISTURE INTO THE STATE. AND SO BY WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY, STICKY SUMMER HUMIDITY IS GOING TO COME BACK. AND IF YOU鈥橰E OUTDOORS, IT WON鈥橳 TAKE LONG BEFORE YOU BEGIN SWEATING THE HEAT INDEX. EVEN CLIMBING INTO THE 90S NEXT WEEK. AND EVEN OUR AIR TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO APPROACH 90 AS WE HEAD INTO THE MIDDLE AND LATTER HALF OF THE WEEK. ON WEDNESDAY. I THINK WE鈥橰E GOING TO COME PRETTY CLOSE, ESPECIALLY IN WEST ALABAMA, TO CLOSE TO TOUCHING THE 90S ON WEDNESDAY AND INTO THURSDAY. WE ARE RAIN FREE THROUGH WEDNESDAY. SPOTTY SHOWER POSSIBLE ON THURSDAY. AND THEN AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND, THE STORMIER PATTERN DOES BEGIN TO RETURN. BUT GOOD NEWS F
