Tarrant woman tracking her own electrical usage as she demands answers for unfair billing
Residents in Tarrant are calling for change after some expressed their frustration with the city鈥檚 electricity department. They feel the department is billing them unfairly.
Jeaneta Temple said she doesn鈥檛 even have central air and heating. She can鈥檛 understand why her bill kept going up over the past few months. She told 米兰体育 13 it鈥檚 gotten so bad recently she鈥檚 started tracking her own usage.
Temple said her bill for the month of February was $198, but she was only billed for eight days. Her statement said she was charged almost $20 per kilowatt. Now, she鈥檚 started taking pictures of her meter 鈥 once in the morning before she goes to work and once at night when she gets home.

Temple believes she鈥檚 not the only person in the city experiencing this issue but said others may not be in a position to make ends meet.
鈥淚t鈥檚 been a struggle,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hank God that I鈥檝e been able to pay my bill, but there are other people here in Tarrant that have not been able to pay their bill. They鈥檙e only allowing them to have an extension once a year. Everybody鈥檚 situation changes from month to month. I feel like a lot of their rules and regulations are against good practice.鈥
Temple said she wants to see Tarrant Electric investigated for unfair billing practices. A manager in the office said any customers with concerns can come down to talk about them. Temple said she鈥檚 called multiple times and even spoke at a city council meeting about the issue, but nothing has been done yet.
米兰体育 13 asked the electric company for comment, but it did not have one at this time.
