THAT COMING UP IN THE FORECAST. ALL THIS MONTH, 米兰体育 13 PROJECT COMMUNITY RECOGNIZES BARRIER BREAKING AFRICAN AMERICANS WHO RAISE THE BAR FOR EVERYONE. ONE OF THOSE EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE, BENJAMIN OLIVER DAVIS JUNIOR IN 1912, DAVIS WAS BORN INTO A FAMILY THAT NOT ONLY MADE HISTORY ONCE, BUT TWICE. BENJAMIN OLIVER DAVIS SENIOR SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR FIVE DECADES, BECOMING THE FIRST BLACK GENERAL IN ANY BRANCH OF THE MILITARY. HE WOULD SEE COMBAT IN THE SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR, WORLD WAR ONE, AND WORLD WAR TWO. HIS SON, DAVIS JUNIOR, TOOK THE RECORD BREAKING ONE STEP FURTHER. HE WAS THE FIRST BLACK WEST POINT GRADUATE TO START HIS CAREER IN THE ARMY. YEARS AFTER DAVIS ORGANIZED AND LATER COMMANDED A FIGHTER SQUADRON THAT WOULD MAKE UP ONE OF TWO GROUPS THAT OPERATED OUT OF THEIR NAMESAKE TOWN, THE TUSKEGEE AIRMEN. DAVIS WOULD HELP MILITARY OFFICIALS DESEGREGATE THE AIR FORCE AND BECOME THE FIRST BLACK BRIGADIER GENERAL OF THE AIR FORCE. THROUGHOUT THE YEARS, PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON PINNED ON HIS FOUR STAR INSIGNIA WHEN DAVIS BECAME A FOUR STAR GENERAL IN 1998. In 1912, Benjamin Oliver Davis Jr. was born into a family that made history not just once, but twice.Benjamin Oliver Davis Sr. served in the Army for five decades, becoming the first Black general in any branch of the military. He saw combat in the Spanish-American War, World War I and World War II.His son, Davis Jr., kept breaking those barriers.
