More storms through Friday and Saturday then very hot for Sunday
ALL RIGHT, LET鈥橲 CHECK IN NOW ONCE AGAIN WITH CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JASON SIMPSON. JASON, WE鈥橵E GOT A MORE ANOTHER ROUND OF IMPACT WEATHER THIS EVENING. HEAVY STORMS COME IN AFTER 10:00. IT WILL NOT BE SEVERE WEATHER. WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER LIKE WE HAD LAST NIGHT. BUT THERE STILL COULD BE A FEW ROUGH THUNDERSTORMS AND A LOT OF NOISE IN THE OVERNIGHT HOURS, TOO. 86 IN BIRMINGHAM AT THE MOMENT. BUT EVEN THOUGH WE DIDN鈥橳 MAKE IT TO 90, IT HAS FELT LIKE IT BECAUSE OF THE HIGH HUMIDITY. FEELS LIKE IT鈥橲 UP TO 92. AND ONE OF THE CONTRIBUTORS TO THAT HIGH HUMIDITY, THE AMOUNT OF RAIN WE鈥橵E SEEN, LEE MCCARTY SENT THE PICTURE OF HIS RAIN GAUGE TO ME EARLIER TODAY ON TWITTER. HE HAD OVER 2.5IN OF RAIN SINCE LAST NIGHT INTO THIS MORNING THERE IN THE GRAYSTONE AREA OF SHELBY COUNTY. GOT A GREAT PICTURE OF THE WEATHER. YOU JUST WANT TO SEND A WEATHER REPORT. I鈥橫 EASY TO FIND. FACEBOOK, TWITTER AND FROM THE 米兰体育 13 APP AS WELL AS 米兰体育 13. YOU CAN SEND IT RIGHT TO US THAT WAY, UPLOADING IT DIRECTLY PAST 24 HOURS WORTH OF RAIN. YOU CAN SEE DOWN HERE AROUND GREYSTONE INTO SOUTH JEFFERSON COUNTY. WE DID HAVE SOME 2 TO 3 INCH RAIN, BUT SAINT CLAIR COUNTY GOT THE BEST OF IT AS WELL AS THE NORTHEASTERN EDGE OF JEFFERSON COUNTY, WHERE WE JUST KEPT HAVING THOSE STORMS BUILD OVER AND OVER BETWEEN TRAFFORD AND ARGO AND SPRINGVILLE LATE LAST NIGHT. AND NOW THAT THE STORMS HAVE ENDED TEMPORARILY, WE鈥橵E GOT OUR COUNT 441 REPORTS OF SEVERE WEATHER SINCE AUGUST 1ST, 153 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM, WARM FLOOD AND TORNADO WARNINGS ALL COMBINED. ONEONTA HAS ONE OF THE HIGHEST RAINFALL TOTALS IN THE STATE, NEARLY TEN INCHES BIRMINGHAM. WE鈥橰E ALMOST CLOSE TO OUR NORMAL MONTHLY RAINFALL FOR AUGUST WITH 3.6. SO HERE鈥橲 WHERE WE GO FOR TONIGHT. SOME FLASH FLOODING IS POSSIBLE FROM THE HEAVIER DOWNPOURS YOU GET INTO THE YELLOWS AND REDS. THAT鈥橲 MORE THAN TWO INCHES OF RAIN. SO SPOTTY AREAS WHERE THESE LOCALLY HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS COULD STILL DROP VERY HEAVY RAINFALL LATER ON TONIGHT ON RADAR AT THE MOMENT, YOU CAN SEE SHOWERS BUILDING OVER MISSISSIPPI. THESE ARE NOT NECESSARILY EXPOSED CODING. THEY鈥橰E NOT SEVERE. THERE鈥橲 NOT EVEN A LOT OF LIGHTNING JUST YET. BUT AS WE WORK THROUGH THE EVENING, THERE WILL BE A LOT OF UNSTABLE AIR MOVING INTO THE PATH OF THOSE HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS. SO IF YOU COULD BE SEVERE LOCALIZED FLOODING, WIND GUSTS GENERALLY IN THAT 20 TO 40 MILE PER HOUR RANGE. SO A FEW TREE BRANCHES MIGHT GET KNOCKED DOWN, GARBAGE CANS REARRANGED, THAT SORT OF THING. I DON鈥橳 THINK THEY鈥橰E QUITE AS VICIOUS AS THE STORMS WE HAD EARLY THIS MORNING. SO THUNDER AT TIMES OVERNIGHT. SOME DOWNPOURS IN THE MORNING, TEMPERATURES HOLDING IN THE MID 70S. AND THEN FRIDAY鈥橲 ANOTHER IMPACT DAY, THE HIGH CLOSE TO 88 DEGREES. A SEVERE STORM IS POSSIBLE, BUT THIS TIME FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING, THAT THREAT IS FARTHER SOUTH. YOU GET NORTH OF CULLMAN TOMORROW. I THINK WE HAVE A PRETTY QUIET DAY FROM CULLMAN SOUTHWARD THROUGH BIRMINGHAM, SOME SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS, BUT THE GREATER RISK OF A SEVERE STORM WOULD BE IN THE GREEN HERE SOUTH OF THE CALERA TALLADEGA AND TUSCALOOSA THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING. HERE鈥橲 HOW IT LOOKS ON THE FUTURECAST WE GET THESE SCATTERED STORMS MOVING IN OVERNIGHT. SOME SPOTS ARE GETTING VERY HEAVY RAIN AND INTENSE LIGHTNING AND OTHERS ARE JUST GETTING A BRIEF SHOWER. I THINK WE鈥橪L ALL GET AT LEAST A LITTLE BIT OF RAIN THROUGH TOMORROW MORNING AND THEN MORE SHOWERS DEVELOP THROUGH THE DAY BY MIDDAY. A LOT OF THIS SHIFT TO THE SOUTH. THE TEMPERATURE JUMPS INTO THE UPPER 80S. AND THEN HERE COMES THAT FRIDAY EVENING BATCH OF THUNDERSTORMS OUT OF MISSISSIPPI BY ABOUT 5:00 TOMORROW EVENING. IMPACT WEATHER TOMORROW, MORE SCATTERED HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS SATURDAY SCATTERED HEAVY STORMS AND A HEAT INDEX IN THE HUNDREDS. SUNDAY, THE HOT DAY, THE HEAT INDEX, 105 PLU
