A few spotty showers with a cold front Thursday and Friday, heavier rain in Alabama's Memorial Day weekend
A few brief showers will be possible, mainly over North Alabama, Thursday and Friday, but most of us will not see significant rain or storms again until the weekend. Check the video forecast for the latest.
LOWER HUMIDITY THROUGH FRIDAY
Drier weather will dominate most of the area with plenty of sunshine and near normal temperatures.
A weak front pushes into the area Thursday night into Friday and could trigger spotty showers, mainly for areas across the north. It's possible places like Hamilton, Double Springs, Cullman, Jasper, Oneonta, Steele and Gadsden get a passing shower late tonight into Friday morning.
More comfortable air will arrive late Thursday and send temperatures down to the 50s by Friday morning, and Friday will feel more like April than May with highs in the 70s and low 80s underneath a mostly sunny sky.
The humidity will increase for the weekend, and it will be fueling several waves of rain and thunderstorms in our future for Saturday, Sunday and Memorial Day.
WEEKEND FORECAST: MORE STORMS COMING
The humid-muggy air returns to Alabama starting Saturday and Sunday, with enough juice to create a few scattered showers and thunderstorms. Alabama will begin another pattern of daily hit-or-miss storms through the beginning of the week.
Memorial Day looks stormy, so plan for indoor activities. As summer nears, afternoon instability looks likely daily, so some of these storms could produce some strong gusty winds and lots of lightning. If you hear the thunder roar, go indoors!
This wet pattern continues through Tuesday with a cold front. It'll knock Alabama out of this pattern, but it could produce some stronger and more scattered storms on Tuesday. Showers will linger across Alabama on Wednesday.
With quiet weather along the Gulf Coast, the risk for rip currents remains low through Memorial Day Weekend.
