Waves of rain and storms for Mother's Day Weekend

Waves of rain and storms for Mother's Day Weekend
CLOUDY SKY MID 70S IN TUSCALOOSA THIS AFTERNOON AND ON FIRST WARNING LIVE RADAR. THERE鈥橲 NO RAIN IN T TOWN, EVEN THOUGH THE SKY HAS GOTTEN PRETTY DARK. THERE ARE SHOWERS TO THE NORTH AND NOW A FEW LITTLE LIGHTNING STRIKES HAPPENING BETWEEN HUBBERTVILLE AND FOWLERS CROSSROADS, RIGHT HERE ALONG PROSPECT ROAD. COUNTY ROAD 49. RAIN GETTING HEAVIER, TRYING TO DRIFT NORTHWARD, BUT THESE LITTLE DOWNPOURS JUST AREN鈥橳 MOVING ALL THAT MUCH IN FAYETTE AND LAMAR AND IN CLAY COUNTIES. BUT THERE鈥橲 RAIN BUILDING IN FROM THE SOUTHWEST. THIS AROUND MERIDIAN AND LIVINGSTON AND YORK HEADED TOWARD DEMOPOLIS, GREENE COUNTY, PICKENS COUNTY, YOU鈥橰E GOING TO GET THE MORE WIDESPREAD SHOWERS FIRST, AND THEN THAT STARTS TO MOVE ON UP TOWARD BIRMINGHAM A LITTLE BIT LATER ON TONIGHT. SO SHOWERS ARE MOVING IN TONIGHT. RAIN AND THUNDER LIKELY TOMORROW MORNING. NO SEVERE WEATHER EXPECTED HERE, BUT WE WILL GET A FEW OCCASIONAL STRIKES OF LIGHTNING, SOME THUNDER NOW AND THEN. THE BIGGER ISSUE IS JUST THE FACT THAT WE GET THESE OCCASIONAL ROUNDS OF SHOWERS PRETTY MUCH ALL DAY LONG, AND THAT鈥橲 NOT GOING TO ALLOW FOR MUCH OF A WARM UP. WE鈥橰E THINKING HIGH TEMPERATURES ONLY MAKE IT INTO THE UPPER 60S ON SATURDAY. WITH THIS ON AND OFF RAIN. IT鈥橲 CLOUDY AND A WHOLE LOT COOLER THAN YOU MIGHT EXPECT IT TO BE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. SO LET鈥橲 JUST LOOK AT IT HOUR BY HOUR. FIRST OF ALL, EARLY IN THE MORNING, 6 A.M. WE鈥橰E PRETTY WELL COVERED UP WITH RAIN. THIS IS SIMULATED RADAR IMAGERY. IT MAY NOT BE PERFECTLY ALIGNED WITH EXACTLY WHERE IT WILL BE AT 6 A.M., BUT I THINK THAT鈥橲 A PRETTY GOOD ESTIMATE. THAT FIRST BAND STARTS TO MOVE NORTHWARD ABOUT 11 A.M., SO FROM CALERA AND TUSCALOOSA SYLACAUGA ANNISTON ROANOKE SOUTH, WE START TO WARM UP SOME FROM MULGA AND IRONDALE AND FAYETTE NORTHWARD. WE鈥橰E JUST STUCK IN THE CLOUDS AND THE RAIN, AND THERE鈥橲 NOT MUCH OF AN OPPORTUNITY TO WARM UP. IN FACT, 3:00, MAYBE 58. IN CULLMAN, 57. IN GADSDEN, BUT CLOSER TO 70 AT DEMOPOLIS AND MAYBE EVEN A FEW SPOTS DOWN AROUND MONTGOMERY AND SELMA PUSHING 80. AND IT鈥橲 IN THIS WARMER ZONE RIGHT HERE THAT I鈥橵E HIGHLIGHTED, WHERE THERE MAY BE AN INCREASED CHANCE OF A FEW THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING SOME CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING THAT WILL LAST THROUGH ABOUT 7:00. BUT FARTHER NORTH FROM JEFFERSON COUNTY NORTH TO GADSDEN, OVER TO ANNISTON CULLMAN JASPER HAMILTON. NOT MUCH OF A THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS ON SUNDAY. IT鈥橲 NOT AS MUCH RAIN, BUT THEY鈥橰E STILL GOING TO BE SOME SHOWERS AROUND 7 A.M. ISOLATED SHOWERS, TEMPERATURES HOLDING IN THE 60S. AND THEN WE GET THIS MORE PERSISTENT RAIN THAT BEGINS TO COME IN LATE SUNDAY EVENING OVER WESTERN ALABAMA. THAT鈥橲 GOING TO MOVE ACROSS THE STATE SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING. SO WHAT鈥橲 THE RAINFALL LOOK LIKE THROUGH THE WEEKEND? MOST OF US ARE GOING TO END UP WITH SOMEWHERE AROUND 1 TO 2IN BETWEEN NOW AND SUNDAY NIGHT. AND THEN THERE鈥橲 EVEN MORE COMING AS THIS PERSISTENT UPPER AIR LOW TO OUR WEST JUST DOESN鈥橳 MOVE ALL THAT MUCH. SO IT鈥橲 GOING TO HANG AROUND ALL THE WAY INTO MONDAY AND TUESDAY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RECOVER SOME MID 70S MONDAY, TUESDAY, WITH THIS CHANCE OF SOME SHOWERS AND A FEW ISOLATED STORMS. BUT THEN ONCE THIS STORM SYSTEM MOVES BY, IT GETS HOT IN A HURRY. NEXT WEEK WE鈥橰E GOING TO BOUNCE FROM A HIGH OF 68 TOMORROW TO
