Hot with fewer storms in Alabama's weather forecast through the weekend
HUG A COW. WE鈥橰E TRACKING MAINLY RAIN AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS. ON THE FIRST WARNING LIVE RADAR. HERE鈥橲 A LIVE LOOK NOW AT DEMOPOLIS. SOME SHOWERS OUT THERE FALLING IN THE BLACK WARRIOR RIVER 73 DEGREES. BUT LOOKING AT THAT FIRST WARNING LIVE RADAR, THERE鈥橲 DEMOPOLIS. YOU CAN SEE THE RAIN RIGHT THERE. AND THERE鈥橲 THE BLACK WARRIOR RIVER THAT GOES THROUGH THE CITY. WE鈥橵E GOT SOME RAIN OVER EAST JEFFERSON STREET, NORTH MAIN AVENUE, RIGHT HERE ALONG THE HIGHWAY 80 AND HIGHWAY 43 CORRIDOR. IN THE INTERSECTION THERE, ZOOMING OUT A BIT, YOU CAN SEE SCATTERED SHOWERS AT THIS POINT, NOT SEEING ANY LIGHTNING STRIKES HERE ON THE RADAR. SO AT THIS POINT JUST SHOWERS AND DOWNPOURS MOVING OVER FORKLAND AND GREENSBORO. HAVANA EUTAW UNION GEIGER LIVINGSTON. YOU鈥橰E GOING TO GET SOME BREAKS IN THE RAIN, BUT THAT WON鈥橳 BE THE END OF IT. WE鈥橵E GOT PLENTY OF RAIN TO GET THROUGH THROUGH THE REST OF THE LATE MORNING AND THE EARLY PART OF THE AFTERNOON. WE ARE ALSO TRACKING SOME HEAVIER DOWNPOURS RIGHT HERE ALONG THE I-95 CORRIDOR COMING OUT OF CLANTON. AT THIS POINT, SOUTH OF MAPLESVILLE, SOUTH OF STAUNTON, SOUTH OF JEMISON. COMING THROUGH FAIRVIEW NOW ENTERPRISE GROCERY COOPER RIGHT HERE ALONG EXIT 200 ON I-65. YOU CAN SEE SOME LIGHTNING STRIKES THERE, SO YOU SHOULD BE INSIDE FOR THAT. HIGHWAY 31 SEEING SOME RAIN. HIGHWAY 22 BETWEEN LAKE MITCHELL, MARINA AND MITCHELL DOWN THERE, MOVING A LITTLE BIT FURTHER EAST WHERE WE DO HAVE ONE MORE THUNDERSTORM THAT WE鈥橰E TRACKING JUST NORTH OF ALEXANDER CITY AND PUSHING SOUTH TOWARDS LAKE MARTIN. NOW LET鈥橲 ZOOM IN ON THERE. WE CAN SEE THOSE LIGHTNING STRIKES JUST NORTH OF THE CITY, THERE ALONG HIGHWAY 280, DOWN TOWARDS HIGHWAY 63 TO WHERE WE HAVE SOME HEAVY DOWNPOURS. THERE鈥橲 LAKE MARTIN. THIS IS HEADED TOWARDS JACKSONS鈥 GAP AS WE SPEAK. LET鈥橲 PUT A TRACK ON THIS TO SEE HOW LONG UNTIL IT GETS THROUGH. LAKE MARTIN MOVING SOUTHWARD. IT WILL BE OVER CHEROKEE BLUFF BY 12:32 P.M. AND PONDERS BY 12:35 P.M. BEHIND THIS LINE THAT WE CALL AN OUTFLOW BOUNDARY. IT鈥橲 MAINLY JUST SHOWERS. STRATIFORM RAIN, NOTHING SEVERE, POTENTIALLY EVEN SOME MUCH NEEDED RAIN FOR SOME FARMERS. TUSCALOOSA SEEING SOME RAIN. PICKENS COUNTY SEEING SOME RAIN. LAMAR, FAYETTE JASPER COLEMAN, HAMILTON A FEW LIGHTNING STRIKES THERE IN PICKENS COUNTY OVER CARROLLTON AND JUST SOUTH OF ALICEVILLE. BUT AGAIN, NOTHING SEVERE. IN FACT, THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS DOWNGRADED THAT LEVEL ONE RISK EARLIER ENCOMPASSED ALL OF CENTRAL ALABAMA, BUT NOW IT鈥橲 JUST THAT SOUTHERN EXTENSION WHERE THAT OUTFLOW BOUNDARY THAT WAS TALKING ABOUT IS STILL PRODUCING SOME GUSTY WINDS. BUT AS WE MOVE INTO THE EARLY EVENING, EVEN THE LATE EVENING RAIN CHANCES ARE GOING TO DROP OFF. BUT BECAUSE OF THE SATURATED SOIL FROM THIS MORNING AND ALL THE CLOUDS, HIGHS WILL ONLY GET TO THE LOW 80S TODAY, WE鈥橪L KEEP TRACK OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS. WE鈥橰E GOING TO BE HOT AND HUMID AS WE MOVE INTO THE WEEKEND. THAT鈥橲 BECAUSE WE鈥橰E GOING TO BE A WHOLE LOT DRIER. HERE鈥橲 THAT WAVE THAT WE鈥橰E TRACKING RIGHT NOW. THIS IS 1:00 AND NOW WE鈥橰E LOOKING AT 4:00 PM. AS YOU CAN SEE, MAJORITY OF THE RAIN IS SOUTH OF BIRMINGHAM. AT THAT POINT BY 6:00, WE CAN鈥橳 RULE OUT SOME LINGERING SHOWERS, MAYBE THE OCCASIONAL THUNDERSTORMS, BUT NOT EXPECTING ANYTHING SEVERE BECAUSE THE TEMPERATURES WON鈥橳 BE AS HIGH AS WE WERE YESTERDAY. THIS IS 11:00 AT THIS POINT. JUST SOME OVERCAST SKIES KEEPING THINGS WARM OVERNIGHT LIKE A BLANKET. AND THIS IS 6 A.M. FRIDAY MORNING. CAN鈥橳 RULE OUT A FEW HEAVY DOWNPOURS, BUT NOTICE MOST OF CENTRAL ALABAMA WILL BE DRY BY 1 P.M., THE HIGHEST CHANCE FOR RAIN WILL BE BETWEEN I-65 AND I-20, AND BY THE TIME WE GET INTO 7 P.M., A FEW OF THOSE THUNDERSTORMS COULD MEANDER A LITTLE BIT FURTHER NORTH, NORTH OF BIRMINGHAM, IMPACTING CULLMAN, BLOUNT, SAINT CLAIR COUNTIES, EVEN PARTS OF CALHOUN AND TALLADEGA COUNTY. THIS IS THE MIDNIGHT HOUR. YOU CAN SEE WE DRY OUT, BUT SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WE ONLY HAVE A 20% CHANCE OF RAIN. HIGHS WILL BE IN THE 90S ON SATURDAY, BUT FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 90S. THIS IS GOING TO BE VERY WARM, VERY HUMID. SUNDAY IS PRETTY SIMILAR, BUT WARMER. WELL, THE TEMPERATURE WILL BE NEAR 93. FEELS TEMPERATURES NEAR 104 DEGREES. THAT IS VERY HOT. SO MAKE SURE YOU STAY HYDRATED. HERE鈥橲 YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST. HIGHS ARE GOING TO BE IN THE 90S THROUGH THE WEEKEND. IT鈥橲 GOING TO FEEL A LOT WARMER THAN THAT, WHERE WE ARE GOING TO BE A LITTLE BIT MORE ON THE DRIER SIDE TO MONDAY, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. ISOLATED TO SCATTER
