Turn on 米兰体育 13 alerts now: NOAA weather radios will be offline during Tuesday's severe storms
The National Weather Service in Birmingham is scheduled to update its system, which will take all NOAA weather radios offline during the chance for severe weather and potential tornadoes on Tuesday.
The upgrade will take their current system completely offline. The upgrade is expected to take three days and the national weather says the upgrade will allow them to better serve the community in case of an emergency.
The upgrade was scheduled months in advance and can't be postponed, according to NWS.
During the chance for severe storms, NWS said people need to have alternate ways of getting information like watches and warnings.

"It's going to help us to make sure that we have a secure system that we can keep doing what we do to get those forecast and warnings out in a timely manner, I'm sure we'll have upgraded speed and capabilities just like when you upgrade that phone you get that upgrade and everything seems to run a little bit faster that's what we're hoping for," John De Block Warning Coordination meteorologist National Weather Service.
The upgrade is expected to be complete by the end of the week.
