Storms Monday evening and another threat of severe storms on Tuesday ahead of a brief break from the rain

Storms Monday evening and another threat of severe storms on Tuesday ahead of a brief break from the rain
FLIGHT IN THE FUTURE AS WELL. ALL RIGHT. WANT TO CHECK IN NOW WITH OUR FIRST WARNING, CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JASON SIMPSON. JASON, WHERE鈥橲 THE RAIN? BEGINNING RIGHT NOW. IT鈥橲 COMING OUT OF BIBB COUNTY INTO SHELBY COUNTY. THERE IS A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING THAT WAS JUST ISSUED FOR SHELBY COUNTY MOMENTS AGO. SO LET鈥橲 GET RIGHT TO THIS. VIEWING IT FROM ALABASTER. THAT鈥橲 THE TOP OF FULL MOON BAR-B-QUE. LOOKING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST, AND YOU CAN SEE THE SKY GETTING DARK TO THE LEFT. IT鈥橲 LIGHTER TOWARD THE RIGHT, AND THAT BIG, HEAVY THUNDERSTORM IS GOING TO MOVE RIGHT INTO THAT SPOT HERE IN THE NEXT FEW MINUTES. SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING UNTIL 7:30 P.M. IT DOES INCLUDE PELHAM ALABASTER SHELBY COUNTY AIRPORT CALERA MONTEVALLO. THE STORM ITSELF IS ON TOP OF WILTON RIGHT NOW, AND IT鈥橲 TRACKING NORTHEAST, JUST LIKE YOU SEE RIGHT THERE. THE WAY THAT POLYGONE IS DRAWN OUT. SO IF YOU GOT THAT AUTOMATED ALERT, THIS IS WHERE IT IS AT THE MOMENT. AND I THINK EVENTUALLY IT鈥橲 GOING TO TRACK UP IN THE DIRECTION OF HIGHWAY 280 BETWEEN CHELSEA AND HARPERSVILLE, OUT TOWARD STAIR AT ABOUT 7:42 P.M. ALABASTER. IT SHOULD BE THERE ABOUT 7:00 TO 705 COLUMBIANA 715 MONTEVALLO BASICALLY ON TOP OF YOU IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF MINUTES, I WANT TO SWITCH OVER TO THE NEXT RAD WIND PROFILE BECAUSE WE鈥橰E VERY CLOSE. THERE鈥橲 THE SHELBY COUNTY AIRPORT RIGHT THERE, SO STRONG WIND RIGHT IN THAT AREA. NORTHERN CHILTON COUNTY, EASTERN BIBB COUNTY. SO THIS INCLUDES MORE THAN SHELBY COUNTY, BUT IT鈥橲 JUST A SLIVER OF CHILTON COUNTY BEING IMPACTED BY IT RIGHT HERE OFF OF THE THE HIGHWAY 25 RUNNING JUST TO THE SOUTH OF WILTON. THAT鈥橲 GOING TO COME RIGHT UP INTO CALERA. SO THERE鈥橲 A PRETTY GOOD CHANCE THE WIND GOES AS HIGH AS 60 65MPH OVER HIGHWAY 155 NEAR THE SHELBY CHILTON COUNTY LINE, AND THEN RIGHT UP THROUGH THE HEART OF CALERA. IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS DRIVING NORTH UP I-65 FROM FROM MONTGOMERY TO SHELBY COUNTY RIGHT NOW WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO JUST PULL OFF AND STOP AND WAIT, MAYBE GRAB SOMETHING TO EAT BECAUSE THERE ARE SOME NASTY THUNDERSTORMS, NOT JUST HERE, BUT ALSO AROUND THE MONTGOMERY AREA TOO. THE RAIN THAT鈥橲 HAPPENING AROUND TUSCALOOSA, FAYETTE, WALKER COUNTY. NONE OF THAT IS SEVERE AT THE MOMENT, BUT WE DO HAVE A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH SOUTH OF THE BIRMINGHAM METRO, INCLUDING BIBB COUNTY, CHILTON COUNTY, COOSA COUNTY, TALLAPOOSA, AND THEN DOWN TOWARD AUTAUGA, ELMORE AND MONTGOMERY AS WELL. SO BETWEEN NOW AND 7:00, THE RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE TRACKING TOWARD THE EAST. THIS IS JUST A PICTURE OF WHAT THE RADAR WILL LOOK LIKE THROUGH THE EVENING. THIS IS LONG GONE BY 9:00 AND IT鈥橲 MOVING OVER INTO GEORGIA. TOMORROW WE鈥橰E GOING TO DO THIS ALL OVER AGAIN. ANOTHER ROUND OF THUNDERSTORMS COMES OUT OF SOUTH MISSISSIPPI INTO CENTRAL ALABAMA. THE GREATEST RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE NEAR AND SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 20. THE TIMELINE NOON TO 4 P.M. OVER THE WEST AND CENTRAL PART OF THE STATE FROM AROUND BIRMINGHAM AND CHELSEA EASTWARD 3:00 TO 7 P.M., AND THIS IS GOING TO MOVE PRETTY QUICKLY, SO IT WILL BE OUT JUST ABOUT AS SOON AS IT COMES IN TOMORROW. IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH INSTABILITY THAT WE GET MOVING BACK IN AFTER TODAY鈥橲 STORMS. PRETTY GOOD CHANCE THAT WE ARE DESTABILIZED ENOUGH THAT SOME OF THESE STORMS COULD BE PRETTY STRONG WITH SOME HAIL AND SOME STRONG GUSTY WINDS THROUGH TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND TOMORROW EVENING. AND THEN BY ABOUT SEVEN 8:00 ON TUESDAY, THE WEATHER STARTS TO CALM DOWN. WEDNESDAY LOOKS MUCH CALMER, ONLY A FEW SPOTTY STORMS. THURSDAY AND FRIDAY WILL GET MORE STORMY WEATHER, BUT THEN A COOL FRONT PASSES AND IT鈥橲 NICER
