A Severe Thunderstorm Watch stretches across most of North and Central Alabama until 12 p.m. Monday.Lamar and Fayette counties saw Tornado Warnings early Monday morning.ALERT DAY: THROUGH NOON MONDAY Impacts: For North and Central Alabama, storms moving into the region through Monday morning pose a threat of strong, damaging wind gusts over 60 mph, large hail and tornadoes.The wind threat appears highest given the setup we have in place. Localized flash flooding is possible through early Monday, too. Some isolated spots could get more than three inches of rain in a matter of two hours.The Weather Prediction Center outlines a limited risk of flooding across Alabama. Regardless of whether severe weather materializes in your specific location, these storms will cause significant disruption, especially during the morning commute. Heavy rain and frequent lightning are guaranteed. Timing: Storms are ending in northwest Alabama. Light to moderate rain will follow the line impacting The Shoals, Decatur, Athens, Huntsville, Russellville, Cullman, Hamilton, Jasper, and Fayette through 10 a.m.Around Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Shelby County, and into northeastern Alabama, storms will be most intense through 10 a.m. as they track east.We expect the worst weather to be ending by noon over east-central Alabama, and then we have much cooler air arriving for Monday night.
