PEOPLE LIKE HARPER LEE, WHO FIRST PUBLISHED A NOVEL AND BECAME AN ACADEMY AWARD WINNING MOVIE, I REALLY UNDERSTAND A PERSON. UNTIL YOU CONSIDER THINGS FROM HIS POINT OF VIEW. BORN NELLE HARPER HARPER LEE IN MONROEVILLE, SHE STUDIED LAW AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA AND WROTE FOR THE CRIMSON WHITE. SHE MOVED TO NEW YORK CITY IN 1949, WORKING IN A BOOKSTORE AND WRITING IN HER SPARE TIME. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD WAS PUBLISHED IN 1960 AND BECAME AN IMMEDIATE BESTSELLER, WINNING THE PULITZER PRIZE FOR FICTION IN 2007. PRESIDENT GEORGE W BUSH PRESENTED LEE WITH THE PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM IN 2014. HER ATTORNEY FOUND A MANUSCRIPT FOR GO SET A WATCHMAN IN HER SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX. IT WAS ALWAYS CONSIDERED A FIRST DRAFT OF TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, BUT WAS PUBLISHED IN A 2015 AS IN 2015 AS A SEQUEL. HARPER LEE DIED IN HER SLEEP IN 2016 AT THE AGE OF 89.
