Alabamians eye Caribbean resorts for spring break savings
Spring break travel season is underway, and many Alabamians are heading to the Gulf Coast, but AAA Alabama notes that some are choosing Caribbean resorts for better deals.
"You get to see a different part of the world. The sand and the water is a little different down there. Extremely beautiful. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. If you can do that and do something a little different and save a couple thousand dollars, then it's well worth looking into," says Clay Ingram of AAA Alabama.
AAA Alabama expects an influx of people flying to their destinations. They also say the roads will be really busy.
Wherever you go, it will be more expensive than ever.
AAA Alabama says costs are up across the board.
Hotel prices are up about eight percent from last year. Flights are up seven percent. Cruises are up 27 percent from last year, yet they expect a record year for cruising.
Over 19 million Americans are expected to hit the open seas this year.
Now, if you're trying to avoid the spring break rush, Clay Ingram with AAA says late April or early May is your best time for that.
