A's players, staff 'impressed' after touring Sutter Health Park
ENGLISH AND SPANISH ON THE ATTORNEY GENERAL鈥橲 WEBSITE. THE A鈥橲 ARE JUST WEEKS AWAY FROM OPENING DAY IN WEST SACRAMENTO, AND LIVECOPTER3 FLEW OVER SUTTER HEALTH PARK TODAY. LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE QUITE A BIT OF WORK TO FINISH BEFORE THAT FIELD IS READY. BUT TODAY SOME OF THE A鈥橲 PLAYERS GOT THEIR FIRST LOOK AT THE BALLPARK AND THE CITY. THEY鈥橪L BE CALLING HOME FOR A FEW YEARS AS THEIR NEW STADIUM IS BEING BUILT IN LAS VEGAS. SO THE A鈥橲 WILL TAKE TO THE FIELD IN WEST SAC IN JUST 12 WEEKS. AND KCRA 3鈥橲 CECIL HANNIBAL WAS THERE TO TALK TO THE TEAM AND GET THEIR FIRST IMPRESSIONS. LAWRENCE BUTLER HOME RUN AFTER A SEASON OF HIGHS. NOW THE TWO TWO WITH THE RUNNER GOING AND LOSS, THEY鈥橵E GONE THROUGH A LOT OF FAILURE. THEY TASTED SUCCESS LAST YEAR IN JULY AND AUGUST. THEIR CONFIDENCE HAS GROWN. THE A鈥橲 HAVE LANDED IN THE CAPITAL CITY IN A DIFFERENT CITY WITH THE SAME MISSION. I鈥橫 HOPING THAT WE ACCOMPLISH OUR ULTIMATE GOAL, WHICH IS TO WIN A WORLD SERIES. AFTER A SEASON PLAGUED WITH INJURIES, POOR PERFORMANCE AND A RECORD WELL BELOW 500, THE A鈥橲 ARE HOPING TO MAKE WAVES RIGHT HERE IN WEST SACRAMENTO. A NEW CITY, A NEW BALLPARK. RIGHT NOW, THE A鈥橲 HAVE 12 WEEKS UNTIL OPENING DAY, AND CREWS ARE WORKING TO GET SUTTER HEALTH PARK UP TO MAJOR LEAGUE STANDARDS. WALKING INTO SUTTER HEALTH TODAY, THE BALLPARK ITSELF EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS. AFTER TOURING SUTTER HEALTH PARK TODAY, THE TEAM WAS IMPRESSED. BUT THERE鈥橲 STILL MORE TO DO FROM ADDING LIGHT POSTS, MORE LED LIGHTING AND EVEN WIDENING THE BATTER鈥橲 EYE. BUT SO FAR, THE TEAM FEELS OPTIMISTIC. THE BALLPARK SEEMED GREAT. YOU KNOW, I THINK THE FACILITIES NOW THAT THEY鈥橰E RENOVATING ARE GOING TO BE WAY BETTER FROM WHERE IT WAS. THIS IS TRIPLE-A. FEELS LIKE I鈥橫 NOT EXPECTING LIKE NO BIG LEAGUE FIELD OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. BUT LIKE FOR A MINOR LEAGUE FIELD FACILITY THAT IS REALLY GOOD. IMPRESSED BY THEIR NEW BALLPARK, BUT ALSO THE WARM WELCOME FROM THE CITY. WE CAN TELL PEOPLE ARE EXCITED AND AND REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING US HERE. AND THAT MAKES THAT TRANSITION EVEN EASIER AND MAKES US EXCITED TO GET OUT THERE AND PLAY. JUST BEEN VERY EXCITED FOR US TO BE HERE. I THINK THEY鈥橰E PROUD THAT, YOU KNOW, THE A鈥橲 ARE HERE IN TOWN, AND I THINK IT鈥橲 A GOOD CITY AND WE鈥橰E GOING TO HAVE A LOT OF FANS COME OUT TO THE GAMES, AND IT鈥橲 GOING TO BE A FUN ATMOSPHERE AND A FUN PLACE TO PLAY. BUT NOW THE WORK BEGINS. THE A鈥橲 FINISHED FOURTH IN THE A.L. WEST LAST SEASON. A YOUNG TEAM THAT鈥橲 ADDED VETS IN THE OFF SEASON, HOPING TO GIVE FANS FROM OAKLAND TO SACRAMENTO A REASON TO PACK OUT SUTTER HEALTH PARK. AND RIGHT NOW, THE TEAM IS GETTING SETTLED, LEARNING A NEW CITY. FROM HERE, THEY鈥橪L HEAD TO MESA, ARIZONA FOR SPRING TRAINING ON FEBRUARY 12TH IN WEST SACRAMENTO. CECIL HANNIBAL KCRA THREE NEWS.
