Family member discovers man fatally shot in Birmingham home
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide in the city's Central Park neighborhood.
Just before 2 p.m. Friday, officers were called to 50th Street in Ensley regarding a report of a person down.

Upon arrival, officers found a man lying unresponsive in the home from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue declared him deceased at the scene.
A concerned family member went to the house to check on the man and found him inside, according to police.

The man's identity and cause of death have not yet been released, but police stated that some time had passed between his death and the arrival of the family member.
Investigators did not find any sign of forced entry at the home.
The incident took place across from Central Park Elementary School, but police believe the students were never in any danger.
