A blast of winter weather Friday gave many their first real encounter with snow in Alabama, and the state's animal inhabitants weren't left out of the experience.

The residents of the Birmingham Zoo awoke Friday to find their habitats had turned into a winter wonderland!

While the smaller creatures couldn't venture out into the snow, the zoo's staff did their best to bring the frozen fun to them as snackable snowmen.
