An investigation is underway in northeast Birmingham after a body was found inside of a residence at the Watertown Lodge Apartment complex Monday afternoon.Birmingham police Sgt. Rodarius Mauldin said a call came in around 2:53 p.m. Monday reporting a "person down" inside of Apartment #14 on Watertown Circle. At the scene, officers found a person dead inside of the kitchen pantry of a vacant apartment.Mauldin said the victim, who was later identified as 26-year-old Eric Henderson, of Birmingham, showed signs of trauma.Police said this case started off as a death investigation when an off-duty Birmingham officer followed up on a complaint that led to the discovery of the body, but investigators are now classifying it as a homicide.Three people have been detained in connection with this case and one arrest has been made, but formal charges are still pending with the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office.No further details are available at this time.Anyone with information related to this investigation is encouraged to call BPD's Homicide Unit at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
