THAT TORNADO, ONCE IT HIT TUSCALOOSA PICKED UP IN WESTERN -- WESTERN JEFFERSON COUNTY. THE CONCORDE COMMUNITY WAS DEVASTATED BY THE TORNADO. SEVEN PEOPLE IN CONCORDE LOST THEIR LIVES. DOZENS OF BUSINESSES AND HOMES DESTROYED BY THE TORNADO. THE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION WANTED TO HELP REMEMBER AND HONOR THOSE LIVES WHICH IS WHY THEY ARE HOLDING A MEMORIAL SERVICE TONIGHT STARTING AT 5:30 AT JOHN CORNYN PARK. THERE WILL BE SPECIAL -- AT CON ORD PARK. AT DUSK, THEY WILL RELEASE CHINESE LANTERNS. THE CON CORD -- CONCORD COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION SAYS THAT THEY WANT TO MARK THE DATE THE COMMUNITY CHANGE FOREVER. >> IN SOME AREAS YOU SEE THE TREES AND HOUSES WHERE YOUR FRIENDS USED TO LIVE, SO IT IS STILL REALLY HARD TO SEE THAT TODAY, BUT YOU ALSO SEE ALL OF THE PROGRESS THAT IS BEING MADE. Concord residents honoring lives lost April 27th
The Concord Community Association is holding a memorial service Tuesday night to mark the 10th anniversary of the April 27, 2011 tornadoes. On the evening of April 27, 2011 an EF4 tornado claimed seven lives and destroyed dozens of homes and businesses in the Concord community of Jefferson County. The memorial service is expected to start at 5:30 p.m. at Concord Park. There will be special music, guest speakers and a Chinese lantern release at dusk.
