Country singer Brad Paisley, wife working to create free grocery store in Tennessee for those in need
A year-round free grocery store for those in need that is being envisioned for Nashville, Tennessee, is connected to country singer Brad Paisley.
Dubbed The Store, it鈥檚 being spearheaded by Paisley; his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley; and his alma mater, Belmont University; to help people get free groceries.
鈥淭here is no charge to those referred or to the people and agencies that send them,鈥 the outreach鈥檚 website says.
The outreach comes after the couple took their children to the Unity Shoppe in Santa Barbara, California, a service where people who have been referred there can shop at no cost for food and clothes.
According to Paisley, they were surprised by what the organization taught them: Most people don鈥檛 want handouts. They want dignity and respect and to become self-sufficient.
鈥淚t鈥檚 not like they鈥檝e made major mistakes. They just need a little extra help, and we want to be a resource for those people,鈥 Kimberly Williams-Paisley .
People would be able to participate for a one-year period. The Store is seeking to serve at least 3,000 people a year.
The nonprofit service is seeking to raise money through donations, according to the .
