On the 80th anniversary of D-Day, we revisit a touching moment from 1984. Janine Graber, then a 16-year-old French schoolgirl, witnessed the events of June 6, 1944, from her home near San Marigliese, the first town liberated by Allied forces."It was not an invasion, it was a liberation," Janine said. Living just 10 miles from Omaha and Utah beaches, she and her family anticipated the arrival of Allied forces. Janine remembers the joy of meeting the first American liberators. "We rushed out in the street to meet them. ...
