Investigators say she was involved in a one-vehicle crash as she exited the ramp from Interstate 20/59, and her car came to rest across the middle lane of I-359.
A witness told officers that Armstrong got out of her car after the accident and was struck by an oncoming semitrailer. She was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
Traffic was rerouted until 10 a.m. Drivers traveling west on 20/59 were not allowed to exit on 359, while traffic on Highway 69 heading toward I-359 was diverted onto Skyland Boulevard.
