Editorial: Thanksgiving
We are days away from celebrating Thanksgiving.
The dictionary defines it as a public acknowledgment of divine goodness, the act of giving thanks, and a prayer expressing gratitude.
All of which can be powerful for both the giver and receiver. We鈥檝e been through a tough year politically.
We continue to see too much violence in Central Alabama. Many of us have faced personal challenges in 2024.
Finding something good to be grateful for doesn鈥檛 erase all that, but the power of gratitude is immeasurable. Many psychology studies show gratitude can improve physical and emotional health and the quality of sleep.
Expressing thanks can come in many forms: say the word, write a note to someone who isn鈥檛 expecting it, check in on someone you haven鈥檛 seen in a while, or truly listen when you ask, 鈥淗ow are you?鈥
An unknown author sums it up, 鈥淎s we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter the words, but to live by them.鈥
Here's to giving more thanks this Thanksgiving and beyond!
