GREATER RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOCAL BROADCASTERS THAN TO STAND BY OUR COMMUNITY IN TIMES OF CRISIS. THAT COMMITMENT WAS ON FULL DISPLAY MARCH 15TH AND 16TH, WHEN POWERFUL, LIFE- THREATENING STORMS TORE THROUGH ALABAMA, BRINGING DEVASTATING TORNADOES THAT CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DESTRUCTION. SADLY, WE LOST THREE LIVES TO THESE STORMS. IT IS DEEPLY DISHEARTENING, HOWEVER, TO HAVE RECEIVED CALLS AND EMAILS FROM SOME IN OUR COMMUNITY EXPRESSING FRUSTRATION THAT SPORTS PROGRAMMING OR PRIMETIME ENTERTAINMENT WAS INTERRUPTED FOR STORM COVERAGE. WHILE WE UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF THESE PROGRAMS TO OUR VIEWERS, OUR FIRST AND FOREMOST DUTY IS TO PROTECT LIVES. BALANCING THE GRAVITY OF MAJOR WEATHER AND NEWS EVENTS WITH PROGRAMMING SCHEDULES IS SOMETHING WE APPROACH WITH CARE, BUT WE WILL NEVER WAVER IN PRIORITIZING YOUR SAFETY WHEN THE SITUATION DEMANDS IT. OUR COMMITMENT IS CLEAR: WE WILL BE HERE FOR YOU AT ALL TIMES. WHEN LIFE- THREATENING WEATHER STRIKES, WE WILL DEDICATE ALL OF OUR RESOURCES鈹丱N- AIR, OUR APP, WEBSITE, AND SOCIAL MEDIA鈹乀O KEEP YOU INFORMED, PREPARED, AND SAFE. THAT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY AND ONE WE TAKE WITH THE UTMOST SERIOUSNESS. I AM PROFOUNDLY GRATEFUL FOR THE EXCEPTIONAL TEAM OF JOURNALISTS AND DEDICATED COLLEAGUES WHO SELFLESSLY WORK LONG HOURS AND GIVE THEIR ALL DURING THESE CRITICAL TIMES. THEIR COMMITMENT IS UNWAVERING, AND THEIR EFFORTS ARE A TESTAMENT TO OUR COLLECTIVE MISSION: TO PROTECT, INFORM, AND SUPPORT YOU IN EVERY WAY WE CAN. THIS IS OUR PROMISE, AND IT WILL NEVER CHANGE.
