'Grey's Anatomy' star Eric Dane diagnosed with ALS
"Grey's Anatomy" and "Euphoria" star Eric Dane has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
In an interview with "" where he first announced his diagnosis, Dane said, "I have been diagnosed with ALS. I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter."
He continued, "I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of 'Euphoria' next week. I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time."
Dane is most well-known for his role as Dr. Mark Sloan on "Grey's Anatomy" and Cal Jacobs on "Euphoria."
"Euphoria" is expected to begin production on season 3 in April.
ALS is a nervous system disease that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord which causes paralysis of the muscles. While therapy and medication can help, there is no cure for the disease.
