Alabama out of highest flu case category as emergency room visits drop
Alabama has fallen out of the "very high" category for flu cases in the country, according to the latest data from the .
The report, which was last updated Jan. 27, now places the state in the top tier of the "high category."
Other states in the top tier of the "high" category include:
- Arkansas
- Colorado
- Louisiana
- North Dakota
- Ohio
- Tennessee
- Texas
- Wyoming

The Alabama Department of Health also released a ending on Feb. 3, which showed that there was a 21% decrease in people who went to emergency rooms with symptoms of respiratory diseases from the previous week.
"The most common symptoms of flu are fever and cough," Dr. Wes Stubblefield said. "Those are consistent. Other symptoms people have are body aches. Sometimes, severe body aches, muscle aches."
