Former Tuscaloosa police officer arrested on child sex abuse charges
A former Tuscaloosa police officer was arrested on charges related to child sexual abuse material.
According to a news release, the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force received information that led them to confiscate a phone, which was found to have child sexual abuse material.
Warrants were obtained Monday to charge Corey Burcham, 35, with ten counts of child sexual abuse material, said the TPD.
鈥淲hen we first learned of these allegations last week, we began the necessary procedures that will ensure he never works as a police officer again,鈥 Tuscaloosa Police Chief Brent Blankley said. 鈥淲e have zero tolerance for actions that undermine the public trust and harm children. The individual involved no longer serves in any capacity with the department.鈥
The news release said Burcham had worked as a patrol officer from January 2019 to March 12.
