Texas Roadhouse staff make dog's last meal special
FINAL MOMENTS SPECIAL. HI, KATE. I鈥橫 HUNTER. HUNTER, METZGER AND KATE WESTON FIRST CROSSED PATHS ON WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DARK DAY. HUNTER AND HIS FAMILY WERE PREPARING TO SAY GOODBYE TO THEIR GREAT DANE, IRIS. WE WANTED TO GIVE HER THAT LAST, BEST DAY EVER. SO WE TOOK HER ON CAR RIDES. WE BROUGHT HER DOWN TO VISIT FAMILY, AND I SAID, YOU KNOW, WE鈥橰E GOING TO GET HER A STEAK DINNER FOR HER LAST MEAL. THE FAMILY MADE AN ONLINE ORDER AT THE TEXAS ROADHOUSE IN EPHRATA AND INCLUDED A MESSAGE EXPLAINING THE SITUATION. THE TO-GO PEOPLE KNOW THAT I鈥橫 SUCH AN ANIMAL LOVER. THEY SHOWED ME AND I WAS LIKE, OH MY GOD, I GOT TO MAKE THIS THE BEST STEAK EVER. KATE WROTE A NOTE ON THE RECEIPT AND DECORATED THE MEAL CONTAINER WITH HEARTS AND MESSAGES. SO I PULLED IN AND WALKED UP TO THE TO GO WINDOW AND I SAID, HUNTER HERE TO PICK UP MY ORDER AND A FEW OF THE LADIES IN THE ROOM IMMEDIATELY CAME UP AND OFFERED THEIR CONDOLENCES AND SAID, WE SAW YOUR NOTE. YOU KNOW, TEARS IN ALL OF OUR EYES. WE DEFINITELY PREPARED IT WITH LOVE. IN THAT MOMENT, NOTHING MATTERED EXCEPT GETTING IRIS HER LAST MEAL. HUNTER WAS SO MOVED BY THE EXPERIENCE, HE POSTED ABOUT IT ON A COMMUNITY FACEBOOK PAGE. HE DIDN鈥橳 EXPECT THE REACTION. IT鈥橲 BEEN REALLY NEAT TO READ THROUGH THE COMMENTS AND ALL THE SUPPORT AND THE LOVE FROM PEOPLE ALL AROUND THE WORLD, NOT JUST HERE IN THE U.S., BUT WE鈥橵E SEEN. AUSTRALIA, UNITED KINGDOM. IT鈥橲 INSANE. MY BROTHER TEXTED ME. HE鈥橲 LIKE, HEY, I JUST SAW YOUR POST ON SOME RANDOM RESTAURANT GROUP I鈥橫 IN. AND I鈥橫 LIKE, WHAT DO YOU MEAN? TURNS OUT THE RESTAURANT DOESN鈥橳 JUST SERVE GREAT FOOD. WE NEEDED THAT BRIGHT SPOT. YOU KNOW, IN THIS TOUGH TIME IN EPHRATA, LANCASTER COUNTY AND SHANNON. WGAL NEWS EIGHT. YOU CAN SEE HOW PEOPLE CONNECT TO THAT STORY. YOU KNOW, IT鈥橲 REALLY NICE WHAT THEY DID, TOO. IT REALLY IS SO SWEET. AND, YOU KNOW, IT鈥橲 THE WORST THING PET OWNERS HAVE TO GO THROUGH WHEN THEY HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE TO THEIR BUDDIES. BUT TEXAS ROADHOUSE ALSO PAID FOR IRIS鈥橲 MEAL, BY THE WAY, AND THE GREAT DANE WAS EIGHT AND A HALF YEARS OLD. HUNTER TELLS US THAT SHE WAS NO LONGER RESPONDING TO MEDICATION THAT SHE NEEDED TO TREAT A NASAL GROWTH. POOR THING. YEAH, REALLY NICE TO SEE THAT.
