'It's gone': Henagar family hides in shelter while tornado shreds home outside

'It's gone': Henagar family hides in shelter while tornado shreds home outside
DAY FOR THAT FAMILY. YEAH, YOU鈥橰E RIGHT. SHERRY. IN FACT, THE WHITES HOME WAS ONE OF 2 TO 3 DOZEN THAT WAS DAMAGED HERE IN THE HENAGAR COMMUNITY. THE WINDS BLEW IT RIGHT OFF THE FOUNDATION, SHREDDING IT TO PIECES. NOW, THE WHITES WERE SITTING IN THEIR STORAGE SHELTER A TOTAL OF TEN HOURS LAST NIGHT AS MULTIPLE TORNADO WARNINGS CAME THROUGH DEKALB COUNTY. WHEN THEY CAME OUT, THE HOME WAS SCATTERED ALL OVER THEIR PROPERTY. A BACKHOE WAS FLIPPED ON ITS SIDE AND BURIED IN DEBRIS. NOW JUST DOWN THE ROAD FROM THE WHITE鈥橲 ON LACY ROAD, THE WOMACK鈥橲 WERE ALSO HIT. THE FAMILY鈥橲 40 YEAR OLD BARN WAS OBLITERATED, PLUS A TREE CRASHED INTO THEIR HOUSE AND TOTALED THREE OF THEIR VEHICLES WHILE THEY HUDDLED IN THE LIVING ROOM AND PRAYED. I WAS FREAKED OUT. I WAS SHAKING AND CRYING, AND STORMS USUALLY DON鈥橳 BOTHER ME, BUT THIS ONE FREAKED ME OUT. NOW, WANDA WHITE鈥橲 ACTUALLY TOLD ME THAT ONE THAT LIVED HERE SAID THAT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TORNADO THAT THEY鈥橵E THEY鈥橵E LIVED THROUGH. THEY ACTUALLY SURVIVED ONE. AND ON APRIL 27TH, 2011, THAT BLEW THEIR ROOF OFF. SHE SAID THEY BOUGHT THAT STORM SHELTER BEFORE THEY EVER BUILT OR BOUGHT THIS MOBILE HOME THAT BLEW AWAY LAST NIGHT, SHE SAID. IF IT WASN鈥橳 FOR THAT STORM SHELTER, SHE DOES NOT BELIEVE SHE WOULD BE ALIVE TODAY
