Homewood City Council appoints first city manager
The City of Homewood has found its first city manager
During a special called meeting Monday evening, the council unanimously appointed Glen Adams to the position.
A longtime civil servant, Adams previously served as the interim town manager of Purcellville, VA, and the city manager of Santa Fe, TX.

Prior to those roles, Adams served for 26 years in the U.S. Army Engineer Regiment and was also the chief of staff at White Sands Missile Range, also known as the "Birthplace of America's Missile and Space Activity."
Adams beat out David Strahl for the position, with Homewood Mayor Alex Wyatt saying it ultimately came down to his ability to start immediately, as well as Strahl's request for a likely hefty severance package.
"With Adams鈥 leadership, Homewood is set for a strong start under its new city management system," city officials said in a statement.

Adams' position is a first for the city, with residents narrowly approving a council-manager form of government by 222 votes, with 1,787 people voting for the new structure and 1,565 voting against.
Beginning this week, Adams' contract will run through the end of October, at which point the new city council will decide whether to extend it.
