WATCH: Homewood Patriots' drummer takes the internet by storm with spinning showstopper
Homewood is celebrating Homecoming by hosting Woodlawn, and the action on the field doesn't end during halftime. The band's halftime show is getting a lot of attention these days.
The Patriots band is amazing, but drummer Jack Mitchell definitely steals the show. He performs with his quad drum in a gyroscope. Seeing is believing. He said when the band director brought in the gyro, it was meant to be.
Mitchell said, 鈥淚 never not wanted to go into the gyro, but Mr. Cooper was the one who picked me out, and he said, Jack, you're the kid I want to do this.鈥
Homewood isn't the first school to use a gyro. But video of last week鈥檚 show went viral.
A pep rally showcased that Mitchell has a lot of energy when he's drumming. He said he just tries to put on a good show.
鈥淗omewood leans very much in showmanship. We pride ourselves on putting on the best show we can possibly do. And that means me hyping out my personality before the show. So I get out there, and I'm like, you know, it's all about playing up the personality, you know, getting the people out in the field hyped because that's for the whole band," Mitchell said.

Mitchell said moving from drumming on flat ground to drumming while in a spinning contraption took some getting used to, but he figured it out.
He said, 鈥淭hat's probably the number one question I'm asked is do you get dizzy? And the answer is yes. But as long as you focus in on one point, don't look around. I don't eat beforehand. As long as I do those, I'm all set.鈥
Mitchell says he'd love to be a part of a marching band in college, he said Texas A&M would be a dream.
