How a busy mom's cookie craving launched a thriving business

How a busy mom's cookie craving launched a thriving business
MONTH, SO WE ARE FEATURING A TRIAD ENTREPRENEUR WITH A TASTE FOR BEING HER OWN BOSS AN A SWEET TREAT. NICE COMBO. OUR ERIN BURNETT SPOKE WITH THE FOUNDER AND CEO OF MY BETTER BATCH. ERIN, WE HEAR SHE ALSO GOT YOU IN HER KITCHEN. SHE DID. LINDSEY HANCOCK WALKED ME THROUGH A RECIPE FOR HER DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES AND HER JOURNEY TO STARTING HER OWN BUSINESS, AN IDEA SHE SAYS STARTED RIGHT THERE IN HER KITCHEN. RIGHT? OH, LOOK AT THOSE FORSYTH COUNTY RESIDENT LINDSEY HANCOCK SAYS SHE鈥橲 ALWAYS HAD A PASSION FOR BAKING. AND A CRAVING FOR A GOOD COOKIE. IT鈥橲 SOFTNESS ON THE INSIDE. IT鈥橲 A NICE, CRISP EXTERIOR. IT鈥橲 A IT鈥橲 A IT鈥橲 THE DEPTH OF THE THE FLAVOR. AS A BUSY WORKING MOM OF TWO BOYS, SHE HASN鈥橳 ALWAYS HAD THE TIME. BEFORE COVID, I WAS ON 120 FLIGHTS A YEAR AND I NEVER FELT LIKE I WAS IN THE PLACES I NEEDED TO BE FOR MY KIDS WHEN THEY WOULD HAVE ACTIVITIES AT SCHOOL, I WOULD GO OVER THE TOP WITH BAKED GOOD CREATIONS. WORKING IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS AT POPULAR FOOD COMPANIES LIKE KIND SNACKS, SHE鈥橲 HAD HER HANDS FULL. I OFTENTIMES THOUGHT IF I COULD GO TO THE GROCERY STORE SHELF AND PICK SOMETHING UP AND BAKE IT AND TAKE A SHORTCUT AND PASS IT OFF AS MY OWN HOMEMADE RECIPE, I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT, BUT FROM TASTE TO TEXTURE, SHE SAYS, NOTHING FROM THE STORE COULD BEAT HER HANKERING FOR A HOMEMADE TREAT, SO SHE DECIDED TO BAKE UP HER OWN BRAND, LAUNCHING MY BETTER BATCH IN APRIL OF 2024. WHEN YOU MAKE A COOKIE FROM SCRATCH, YOU ARE CREAMING TOGETHER THE BUTTER AND SUGAR, AND WHEN YOU鈥橰E USING A MIX, YOU鈥橵E GOT TO DUMP ALL OF THOSE DRY INGREDIENTS INTO THE BOWL. YOU JUST CAN鈥橳 GET THAT SAME TEXTURE. SO WE WORKED REALLY HARD TO FORMULATE THESE, SO THEY REALLY DID GIVE OFF A HOMEMADE VIBE, A TASTE AND TEXTURE. IT鈥橲 ALMOST BEEN A YEAR SINCE LAUNCH, AND HANCOCK SAYS ALONG THIS ENTREPRENEURSHIP JOURNEY, SHE鈥橲 LEARNED A LOT ABOUT STARTING OVER FROM SCRATCH. YOU DON鈥橳 HAVE TO HAVE IT ALL FIGURED OUT. IF I WERE TO WAIT UNTIL I HAD IT ALL FIGURED OUT TO GET STARTED, I WOULD NEVER HAVE DONE ANYTHING. I WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN SITTING KIND OF IDEATING AND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT I WANTED TO DO. WELL, WE HAVE WITH THE MAGIC OF TELEVISION. WE HAVE COOKIES FOR YOU GUYS TO TRY. THIS IS THE FINAL PRODUCT THAT WE BAKED. THIS IS THE DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CHIP. SO WHILE YOU GUYS TRY THAT OVER THE PAST YEAR, LINDSAY SAYS THAT SHE鈥橲 BEEN PROUD OF HOW MUCH PROGRESS THAT THEY鈥橵E BEEN MAKING, AND THEY鈥橵E BEEN FROM FINDING MANUFACTURERS TO GETTING INTO RETAILERS LIKE AMAZON, SHE SAYS THEY鈥橰E EVEN PARTNERING WITH THRIVE MARKET, AND THEY鈥橰E ABOUT TO COME OUT WITH A LITTLE HOLIDAY COLLAB WITH TARGET. SO STAY TUNED FOR THAT. DELICIOUS. YEAH, THESE ARE SO YUMMY. I LOVE LIKE, A FUDGY, CHOCOLATY COOKIE. AND YOU CAN YOU LIKE YOU WERE SAYING IT DOESN鈥橳 TASTE LIKE STORE BOUGHT OR FROM THE PACKAGE REALLY DOESN鈥橳. I MADE THEM GUYS IMPRESSIVE. I HAVE THE SAME BOX THAT ERIN BROUGHT HOME YESTERDAY TO THE NEWSROOM. I鈥橫 GOING TO BAKE IT TONIGHT AND I HOPE THAT I CAN DO IT JUSTICE. YES, AND THEY鈥橰E REALLY EASY TO BAKE, TOO. JUST A WHOLE STICK OF BUTTER. ONE EGG, THE MIX. THAT鈥橲 IT. A WHOLE STICK. YES. THAT鈥橲 THE ONLY THING I WANT. AUDREY. YOU CAN DO IT. IT鈥橲 OKAY. THESE ARE DELICIOUS. THANK YOU, ERIN, FOR HIGHLIGHTING HER. AND MORE STORIES LIKE THIS. JUST HEAD ON OVER TO WXII 12.COM BECAUSE WE ARE HIGHLIGHTING LOCAL WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS AND MORE FEMALE OWNED BUSINESSES ALL ACROSS THE PIEDMONT TRIAD. SO OF COURSE, WE INVITE YOU TO CHECK O
