New exhibit remembers the impact of Hurricane Katrina
A "tragedy to remember" captured through a photographer's lens in black and white.
This August marks the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The destructive Category 3 storm killed thousands, destroyed homes and left countless families displaced.
Photographer Melody Golding told the stories of Mississippians who were affected by the hurricane from Biloxi to Ocean Springs.
Those photos she captured in 2005 are now on display at the Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson, Mississippi.
It showcases the resilience of Mississippi survivors, who are often overlooked.

According to museum records, at least 238 Mississippians died from the deadly storm, and it caused more than $125 billion in damage to the state.
The free exhibit will run through Nov. 7.
