YES, WE ACTUALLY HAVE SOME LIGHT RAIN THIS MORNING ON �� 13 LIVE DOPPLER RADAR IN TUSCALOOSA COUNTY BETWEEN BROOKWOOD AND KELLERMAN. JUST A LITTLE BIT OF LIGHT RAIN. MOST OF THESE ARE JUST PESKY SHOWERS OUT THERE. THIS MORNING. IF ANYTHING, ANNISTON MAYBE SEEING A LITTLE BIT OF LIGHT RAIN. MAINLY DRY FOR NOW. OFF TO THE WEST. WE DO HAVE EXTENSIVE RAIN COVERAGE AND SOME THUNDERSTORMS DOWN IN LOUISIANA TOO. THIS IS IN ADVANCE OF A COLD FRONT. WE WILL SEE WET WEATHER THIS WEEKEND AT TIMES, BUT IT’S NOT GOING TO BE A WASHOUT. WE’RE ALSO STILL WATCHING RAPHAEL IN THE GULF. THIS WILL NOT IMPACT THE UNITED STATES. IT IS ROUGHING UP THE SURF ALONG THE GULF COAST, BUT IT IS GOING TO STAY OUT TO SEA. IT’S BEING TORN APART BY VERTICAL WIND SHEAR AND SOME DRIER AIR, HELPING TO WEAKEN THE STORM. IT’S NEAT TO SEE THE CLOUDS THOUGH, AND HOW THEY SHEAR OFF OF IT AND MOVE INTO THE COASTAL STATES THERE. SO SOME CLOUD COVER THROUGH THE WEEKEND. YOU CAN SEE FROM ORANGE BEACH THAT IT IS GLOOM

Hurricane Rafael made landfall in Cuba Wednesday as a major Category 3 hurricane. It will slowly meander westward through the Southern Gulf through the weekend. Rafael is gradually weakening as it encounters dry air and increased wind shear. It will become a depression and dissipate over the southwestern Gulf early next week, posing no threat.There are currently no watches or warnings in effect. Rafael will not directly impact the Alabama Gulf Coast, however the storm is sending rough surf and a high threat of rip currents this way. Surf heights of 5 to 7 feet will reach coastal Alabama through the weekend.
