Iconic Hallmark Farm in Jefferson County has a new owner and future
A major transaction happened Friday that will have a massive impact on North Jefferson and Blount counties.
The purchased the Hallmark property in Warrior right off Interstate 65, and it has big plans for the iconic site which will be known as .
The property features hundreds of acres of lush green fields, several ponds and the big white barn.
Anyone driving through the center of Alabama has laid eyes on the Hallmark farm sitting yards from I-65 in Warrior. It's looked like the same for decades. But soon, it'll become a state-of-the-art agriculture center.
Alabama Farmers Federation officially bought the property on Friday, and local leaders are very excited.
Heather Lebischak, the president of the North Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, said, 鈥淭hey're going to host things like the rodeo and cattle shows, but they're also going to have it as an educational center where they educate people on all things farming and animals. So, it's going to be a great booster for this North Jefferson community.鈥
There will be multiple barns, an event center, campgrounds and park rides. They've already hosted rodeos here, and you can expect more of that.
Lebischak said, 鈥淢y favorite thing about the rodeo is they looked for local vendors to be at the rodeo, so it was an outside entity coming in to do it, but they brought in local people and let them sell their products, whether it was food trucks or products.鈥
The farm center will also be an educational resource. Expect lots of field trips to this area. All that traffic brings people in to eat, stay in hotels, and spend money.
Some in this quiet, sparsely populated part of Jefferson County most likely won't appreciate the added traffic and attention. But local leaders say they're happy the new use for this property is in line with its past and will help this area grow economically.
