After he passed away in Georgia, this is *** moment in time where we focus not on politics, not on partisanship, not on *** political party, but on *** life, *** life given in service and even sacrifice to be President of the United States. Carter remembered for signing the Camp David Accords as president and for his humanitarian efforts after leaving the White House. Like working to eradicate disease, building homes for those in need, and creating the Carter Center in Atlanta. It set the example that so many other presidents have followed as Washington prepares to honor him, the Carter Center says the former president will lie in state at the rotunda of the US Capitol, and President Biden has scheduled Carter State funeral for January 9, as well as *** national day of mourning.
