On Feb. 6, 2008, Lawrence County was rocked by an EF-4 tornado that left a 16.7-mile-long trail of damage and death in its wake.
Touching down near the Pinhook community around 3 a.m., the tornado devastated the area, tossing vehicles, uprooting trees and leveling homes to their foundations. Three people were found dead in the aftermath.
These images captured by the National Weather Service serve as a stark reminder of just how quickly and severely these powerful storms can impact our area.
