March Madness returns to Birmingham: Teams, tickets and everything you need to know
THROUGH 2028, AND THOSE IMPROVEMENTS COME JUST IN TIME FOR WHAT LOOKS TO BE A VERY BUSY WEEKEND THIS WEEK. BUSINESSES ACROSS BIRMINGHAM ARE PREPARING FOR A HUGE INFLUX OF VISITORS. THE MAGIC CITY, PLAYING HOST TO THE NCAA WOMEN鈥橲 SWEET 16 STARTING IN JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS, 米兰体育 13 JARVIS ROBERTSON SPOKE WITH LOCAL BUSINESS FOLKS TONIGHT AS THEY ANTICIPATE THE CROWDS. JARVIS. WELL, GUY AND SHERRY, IT鈥橲 A LITTLE WINDY HERE IN BIRMINGHAM TONIGHT, BUT THAT鈥橲 OKAY. WE鈥橰E EXCITED FOR ALL OF THE MADNESS THAT IS COMING OUR WAY IN THE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM. TONIGHT ON BROADWAY LANE IS STARTED. IT RUNS THROUGH THE WEEKEND. AS YOU GUYS JUST MENTIONED, THE WOMEN鈥橲 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT THAT鈥橲 GOING TO TIP OFF FRIDAY. ALSO, MONSTER JAM IS SATURDAY, SO BUSINESSES AROUND BIRMINGHAM, THEY ARE CERTAINLY READY TO FEEL THE IMPACT OF ALL THE PEOPLE THAT ARE COMING HERE. WE鈥橰E READY TO GO. WE JUST LOVE THAT THE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM IS HOSTING SUCH A MAJOR EVENT. IF YOU鈥橰E LOOKING FOR THE FUN AND EXCITEMENT, THEN BIRMINGHAM IS THE PLACE FOR YOU THIS WEEKEND. PEOPLE FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE FLOCKING HERE BECAUSE OF THE WOMEN鈥橲 NCAA TOURNAMENT AND MONSTER JAM BOTH HAPPENING IN THE HEART OF THE CITY. I GOT JONATHAN BRYANT AND HIS WIFE OWNS K AND J ELEGANT PASTRIES AND CREAMERY IN UPTOWN. A NORMAL SATURDAY IS ALREADY BUSY FOR THEM. MAN. WE RESTOCKED THIS CASE RIGHT HERE. AT LEAST 20 TO 30 TIMES ON A REGULAR SATURDAY. SO THIS SATURDAY, PROBABLY ABOUT 40 TO 50 TIMES. BRYANT SAYS THEY鈥橵E HIRED ADDITIONAL HELP FOR THE WEEKEND, AND THEY鈥橵E ALREADY SEEN PEOPLE COMING IN FROM OUT OF STATE AHEAD OF THE MAJOR EVENT. AND IF YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW MANY CUPCAKES HE THINKS THEY鈥橪L SELL NORTH, OF 5000 CUPCAKES. JUST CUPCAKES ALONE, BECAUSE WE DO ABOUT 15 DIFFERENT FLAVORS. THE EXCITEMENT WILL ALSO BE FELT IN THE LAKEVIEW DISTRICT, WHICH IS NEAR DOWNTOWN. WILL WE GET A LOT OF TIMES WHEN PEOPLE COME INTO DENHAM, THEY SAY, WOW, WE CAN鈥橳 BELIEVE THIS IS HERE IN BIRMINGHAM. MALIK KIMBALL IS THE CO-OWNER OF DENHAM ON SEVENTH. HE SAYS THEY NORMALLY SEE AROUND A THOUSAND PEOPLE FOR THE WEEKEND, BUT BECAUSE OF THIS WEEKEND, THEY EXPECT MANY MORE PATRONS. TYPICALLY WHEN WE HAVE A BIG WEEKEND LIKE THIS, WE TYPICALLY LIKE TO AT LEAST BE ABLE TO TOUCH SOMEWHERE AROUND 2500 TO 3000 PEOPLE. THEY SPEND A LOT OF TIME PLANNING FOR THE BIG BANG. BUT FOR THIS WEEK, DENHAM STAFF, THEY PULL OUT ALL THE STOPS. YOU KNOW, WE ACTUALLY STOCK UP AND WE LIKE TO FOCUS ON DIFFERENT DRINKS FOR OUR PEOPLE, YOU KNOW, DIFFERENT SPECIALS AND STUFF LIKE THAT. SO WE GET WITH A LOT OF OUR VENDORS. SO IF YOU PLAN ON BEING IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA, ESPECIALLY THIS WEEKEND, JUST KNOW IT鈥橲 GOING TO BE A LOT OF PEOPLE. SO YOU鈥橰E PROBABLY GOING TO DO A LOT OF WAITING. AS WITH THESE MAJOR EVENTS THAT DO COME TO THE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM, WE TYPICALLY EXPECT TO SEE MILLION DOLLARS, MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. EXCUSE ME.
