Michael Coleman remembered one year after being shot and killed while sitting in wheelchair
Family and friends gathered Wednesday to remember and honor the life of a man killed in a drive-by shooting one year ago in Birmingham.
A balloon release took place in the 100 block of 59th Street North to remember 62-year-old Michael Coleman.
Coleman was killed on May 14, 2024. Police said he was sitting in his wheelchair with a group of people under a tree on 59th Street North in Woodlawn, when armed suspects drove by and fired shots, striking and killing Coleman.
The case remains unsolved.

Coleman's sister, Sheila Coleman, said her brother always loved sitting under a tree in the yard.
