NCAA Baseball Championship: Auburn and Alabama prepare for regionals
Alabama and Auburn have secured their spots in the regionals on the road to the 2025 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, marking the state of Alabama's prominence on the collegiate baseball stage.
Not only is Auburn playing, but as a top-16 seed in a field of 64 teams, it is also a regional host.

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) leads with a record 13 teams in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, followed by the Atlantic Coast Conference with nine teams.
Vanderbilt is returning to the competition for the nineteenth year in a row. USC Upstate is making its first-ever appearance, while Miami (Ohio) is returning for the first time since 2003.
Alabama and Auburn play their first games on Friday, May 30.

Auburn hosts as a top-seed
Auburn enters the tournament as a regional host and a national top-16 seed, with a strong record of 38-18.
Coming into the tournament as a No. 4 seed overall, the teem tied the 2003 team for highest postseason seeding in program history.
鈥淎 top four national seed is absolutely a big deal, but every road is a tough road,鈥� Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said in a statement. 鈥淓very team that鈥檚 made this field has done something amazing. Four teams stand in our way of a return trip to Omaha. It鈥檚 nice that it starts right here at Plainsman Park on Friday.鈥�
The No. 1 Auburn Tigers will face No. 4 Central Connecticut State (31-15) in their opening game at 6 p.m. CT on Friday, following a matchup between No. 2 NC State and No. 3 Stetson.
Auburn is 51-35 in regional play, including 11-4 under Thompson.
鈥淚 think we have a very well-rounded field here,鈥� Thompson said in a statement. 鈥淲e鈥檝e had some good fields here. I know our fans are going to get treated to another amazing field of good regional teams here at Plainsman Park. I鈥檓 excited about what it鈥檚 going to feel like in this ballpark and these people being alongside this team as we start this postseason journey.鈥�
Alabama looks to compete
Meanwhile, No. 2 Alabama boasts an impressive 41-16 record and will compete in the Hattiesburg Regional.
Their initial challenge pits them against No. 3 Miami (Florida) (31-24) at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, a significant test for Alabama as they aim to advance in the tournament.
The regional is hosted by No. 1 Southern Mississippi.
