YEAH, TOUGH TO SEE, BUT THOSE ADORABLE SQUEAKS ARE FROM THE NEW BABIES. THE PUPS ARE TUCKED INTO THEIR NESTS SO YOU CAN鈥橳 SEE THEM JUST YET. AND THE ZOO TELLS US THAT NOT EVEN THE TEAM HAS BEEN ABLE TO CONFIRM THE NUMBER OF PUPS. BUT THEY SAY THAT THOSE SQUEAKS ARE A GREAT SIGN. THE FIRST TIME MAMA IS DOING WELL. The Cincinnati Zoo has welcomed several new members to its zoo family this week, just in time for Mother's Day. On May 9, the zoo announced that one of its otters, Munti, had given birth to a litter of pups. The zoo care team said the birth came earlier than expected.Since Munti is a first-time mom, the zoo said they will be paying extra attention to her and her litter.鈥淢unti is a first-time mom, and with that comes some risk. We are currently in a critical three-day window for the pups,鈥� said Victoria McGee, Zoological Manager of Primates. 鈥淏ut hearing hearty squeaks that sound healthy is a great sign!鈥漈he care team said for now, Munti, dad Flounder, and the pups are now tucked into their nest, out of view. "Because of this, the team hasn鈥檛 yet been able to confirm the number of pups," the zoo said.The parents and their new pups will stay off habitat for around the next eight weeks while they bond and care for their pups behind the scenes.
