THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE CAR AND THE DRIVER WAS NOT HURT. AN AMAZING VIDEO SHOWING AN OWL RESCUE FROM A CHIMNEY AT A HOME IN CUMBERLAND. THE HOMEOWNERS HAD HEARD SCRATCHING WEDNESDAY LAST WEEK. BY FRIDAY--THEY HEARD HOOTING AND KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DEALING WITH. MAINE WILDLIFE TRANSPORT USED A THERMAL IMAGE CAMERA TO LOCATE THE OWL, AND WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO MANEUVER IT OUT OF A SMALL OPENING. Maine Wildlife Transport is sharing heartwarming video of an owl being rescued from a chimney at a home in Cumberland, Maine.Maine Wildlife Transport (MWT) said the homeowners initially reported hearing scratching noises from their chimney on March 12, but they did not realize an owl was stuck inside until they heard hooting sounds two days later.A team from MWT was then dispatched to the home and was able to find the barred owl with a thermal imaging camera.After removing the fireplace insert, the team found out the owl was stuck behind a narrow opening, so the bird had to be carefully maneuvered in order to be freed.Animal Damage Control agent Dan Foss was able to coax the owl to safety by making barred owl hooting noises, which allowed him to gently grasp the bird's legs and remove it from the chimney.Once Foss got the owl free, the video shows Foss comforting the bird and holding it close to his chest.Maine Wildlife Transport said the owl was sent to Avian Haven in Freedom, where it received treatment for minor abrasions and soot in its eyes. The owl is expected to make a full recovery, according to MWT.
