Moments after landing in Washington, Pope Francis was personally greeted by President Obama, the First Family, and the Vice President. After meeting privately with the president at Joint Base Andrews, Francis made his way to the Vatican embassy, where he's spending both nights he's in DC. On Wednesday morning, the Pope visits the White House, where 15,000 people will fill the South Lawn to welcome the pontiff. Francis will also sit down with President Obama. The White House says they'll discuss climate change, income inequality, and Cuba. He was so instrumental in helping forge our new relationship with Cuba, and so the president admires him greatly. After *** short parade near the White House, Francis will pray with bishops at *** nearby Catholic church. In the afternoon, the Pope celebrates Mass and canonizes *** Spanish missionary at the basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. 25,000 people are expected to attend.
