Jackson-Olin football player dies from shooting injuries after being taken off life support

A Jackson-Olin High School football player is dead after being taken off life support Wednesday afternoon.
That's according to Birmingham School Board Member Jason Meadows.
Gerald Lomax, 17, was shot after a basketball game at Woodlawn High School Tuesday night.
Police are searching for the person who shot him. Officers were called to a shooting at 9:50 p.m. at the school.
That's where they found the teen in the passenger seat of a vehicle behind the school.
He was taken to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was on life support on Wednesday until his death.

Investigators say that he was leaving the basketball game when he got into an argument with someone.
He and a friend got into their vehicle at 54th Street and 2nd Avenue North and tried to leave when another person fired multiple shots into their vehicle, hitting the victim.
The friend drove to the 5600 block of 1st Avenue North at Woodlawn High School for help.
The suspect left in an unknown vehicle.
