The sheriff's office said two officers were in the car patrolling 23rd Avenue East on Monday because a shooting was reported in that area the day before.

While the officers were on patrol, they reportedly saw a teen walk quickly between two houses when he saw them. As the officers drove by the houses, they saw the teen standing in a "semi-concealed position," wearing a mask and holding a gun.
The sheriff's office said the suspect shot at least eight rounds at the officers. They then drove past the suspect without stopping or firing back. The teen jumped fences and ran away.
No one was injured, according to the sheriff's office.
The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit was called to take over the investigation.
The sheriff's office said after talking to witnesses, looking at police dashcam footage and reviewing surveillance video, they determined the 15-year-old was the suspect and is believed to have also been involved in the shooting from the day before.

He was located later Monday evening, and the gun believed to have been used was found, the sheriff's office said.
The 15-year-old was charged through juvenile court with two counts of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied residence. He is in juvenile detention.
Because of his age, the teen's name will not be released.
