'Like a bomb, boom!': Car crashes through wall of Birmingham business
A Birmingham beauty supply business is picking up the pieces after a car rammed through its wall Saturday.
It happened shortly after 5 p.m. at Beauty Masters located at 919 Lomb Avenue. That's in the Arlington-West End neighborhood.
The impact left a gaping hole in the brick wall, revealing rebar and the inside of the store. The car's bumper was left behind in the rubble.
The owner of the store, Samir Kader, said surveillance video shows a Honda Accord pulling quickly up to the parking space. It ran over the cement parking barrier, through the wall, then backed up and left the property.
See live coverage at the scene:
"We heard like a bomb, boom! All of a sudden we see the wigs start flying and by the time we came around the building, I see the Honda pulling out and taking off," Kader said.
From inside the store you can see clearly through several feet of the wall into the parking lot.
No word on what led to the crash. No one inside the store was injured.
The owner wishes the driver would have stayed at the scene and been honest about the mistake.
"I would forgive them," Kader said. "I mean, everybody can have accidents, mistakes happen, accidents happen. I wish they are okay though."
The business will have to close for at least one to two days for repairs.
