WATCH: Lulu Gribbin welcomed home with parade after shark attack
People carrying purple ribbons lined the streets of Mountain Brook Saturday in honor of a teen who returned home after being attacked by a shark.
Police escorted Lulu Gribbin and her family through Mountain Brook Village into Crestline amid cheers from the sidewalks.
The Gribbin family was wearing purple shirts and waving purple pompoms. Purple is Lulu's favorite color. La Paz in Crestline Village named a drink after her, the 'Lulurita.'
Those attending the parade said they wanted to let Lulu know how strong she is.
"I'm here to support her," Leslie Higgins said. "She's a very strong individual and if that were me, I would have been freaking out. I want to tell her, 'you're a strong individual, you're a strong woman. Keep going.'"
A group of middle school girls said they look to Lulu as an inspiration.
"I was just thinking how much of an inspiration she is that she keeps going because I don't know if I could do it what she has done," seventh grader Kennedy Romeo said. "Her recovery was amazing to watch."

In June, the 15-year-old lost part of her arm and leg in a shark attack on Florida's Gulf Coast.
Her friend, McCray Faust, was also injured in the attack.
This attack on the teens happened just 90 minutes after a woman was attacked by a shark a few miles away in the popular 30A area.
Lulu returned home on Friday after undergoing treatment and therapy at a hospital out of state.
