When Betty Vitale's daughter passed away in a car accident in 1996, she was stricken with grief. But eventually, she realized she could turn her tragedy into something positive. She founded Tammi's Closet, a donation service that provides free prom dresses to girls who would otherwise be unable to afford them. In its first year, Tammi's Closet donated 17 dresses. Last year, 257 dresses were donated.Betty now has over 900 dresses as the result of a huge outpouring of donations, and her hope is to open a temporary storefront so she can give away more dresses this year.To see how Betty is granting the prom night wishes of girls across the New England area, watch the video above.
